Current Position:For the MATE Center, Tami works on special projects that include running student conferences in association with professional scientific meetings, helping coordinate the National Ocean Sciences Bowl, sponsored by MATE Center in 2006, attending conferences and giving presentations on the MATE Center and COSEE California. Related Experience: Tami's research in graduate school focused on microbial nitrogen cycling in coastal aquatic systems. During her education and career, she has participated in field and laboratory work related to nutrient cycling, microbial ecology, microbiology, and environmental science. Tami also has significant teaching experience. She teaches Oceanography here at Monterey Peninsula College each fall, taught high school Biology and Marine Science in Hawaii, and taught microbiology lab at the University of Delaware. Personal Interests: Tami loves the outdoors-- hiking, camping, rock climbing, bike riding, and SCUBA diving. She also loves to travel, especially with her husband, to see new places and meet new people.
