The MATE Center profiles marine-related employers on its Ocean Careers web site. The profiles provide key information about these employers, including the products and services they offer, the types of positions they have available, and the knowledge and skills they are looking for in their employees. There are other great sources of information about employers and the marine industry in general. For example, the Sea Technology Buyers Guide/Directory is a standard reference for the ocean/marine/offshore community. The guide is updated annually with technical articles and industry reports, listings of manufacturers, cross index of products and services available, ocean research vessels, geophysical survey vessels, and educational institutions. It covers ships, structures, propulsion systems, power plants, electrical equipment, ordnance, detection systems, navigation and positioning, communications, instrumentation, test equipment, computers, data processing, basic materials, marine hardware, deck gear, life support, and safety equipment. Ocean-Guide is an interactive, on-line service operated by Technology Systems Corporation (TSC), a leading publishing company serving the ocean industry with focused trade magazines such as Ocean News & Technology and Offshore Source. TSC’s Ocean-Guide lists hundreds of companies that serve the ocean industry with a wide variety of products and services. The guide is searchable by product, service, or company. |
