In San Diego, we serve 6,000 young people, and are growing to serve over 20,000, each year. As a Leaders Programs High School Science Education Coordinator you will serve a critical part of our highly collaborative and passionate team to help fulfill our mission and share in our commitment to the youth of our community we serve. We are looking for candidates who will coordinate program components and lead high school students in our intensive, research-focused after-school and summer programs. These programs take place in San Diego and at a remote field location in Baja California, Mexico. You will engage our students in rigorous and authentic science experiences in order to foster their growth as science and conservation leaders.

Requirements:
Responsibilities: ? Oversee program and strategic enhancement projects. ? Provide direct instruction for students, both in the classroom and in the field. ? Develop curriculum and program components that ensure program goals are met. ? Facilitate program evaluation. ? Collaborate and coordinate with science and conservation professionals to plan, develop, and implement projects. ? Collaborate with staff and advisors to design and implement comprehensive programs and services. ? Because of the organization’s size and nature, other duties may be assigned as needed. Qualifications: ? Command presence. ? Skilled science educator, with a strong understanding of the scientific/research process. ? Teaching experience in outdoor locations. ? Capable project manager. ? Strong work ethic; thrive under pressure. 2 Other requirements: ? M.S. or B.S. with 4+ years post-graduation work experience. ? Fluent in Spanish; proficient written and verbal communication skills. ? Health conscious and excellent physical condition to work in remote outdoor locations. ? International travel required. ? Strong swimming and water skills. ? Highly proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Access. ? CPR and 1st Aid and/or Wilderness First Responder certification preferred (if not, will need to obtain upon hire). ? Pass a fingerprinting / background check. ?
