Description:
TechGlobal, Inc., is recruiting a Grant Program Specialist to support our client, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office of Education (OEd), in downtown Washington, DC. OEd manages two grant programs, the Environmental Literacy Program and the Bay-Watershed Education and Training Program, that support projects in informal and formal K-12 education related to NOAA’s mission. TechGlobal is seeking a Grant Program Specialist to provide administrative, logistical, and technical support for these grant programs. The successful candidate will become a fulltime employee of TechGlobal, working on site in OEd’s downtown DC office.
Requirements:
The candidate will provide support to OEd grant program staff including:
- Manage the logistics of running large grants competitions that are managed through various databases (e.g., development and tracking of task lists and timelines, entering and managing data, and drafting of correspondence) including:
? Creating the Federal grants announcements/solicitations within NOAA’s Grants Online system;
? Coordinating the downloading and distribution of grant applications from Grants Online and assisting with the administrative review of applications for completeness and policy compliance;
? Utilizing a database and/or the Grants Online system to manage the competition process, including data entry and reporting;
? Organizing and providing logistical support for the application review process, including supporting the identification of reviewers, and assisting with review panel meetings;
? Working with OEd staff and the successful applicants to ensure complete grants packages are submitted on time to the NOAA Grants Management Division through Grants Online;
- Assist with collection and compilation of grant project outputs and outcomes;
- Coordinate regular in-person and virtual meetings of a program team;
- Assist with written and oral communications between the Federal Program Officers and the applicants/grantees;
- Assist with program communications to include updates to web sites, social media and development of print materials;
- Assist Federal Program Officers with the promotion of OEd’s grant programs through a variety of media, including written materials and in-person presentations;
- Assist with the development and maintenance of a network of grantees to promote collaboration and sharing of best practices and lessons learned.
Required Skills
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail; and the ability to work in a team environment while managing multiple projects. The position requires appropriate experience in:
- Project management, including development and tracking of task lists and timelines;
- Using online and other relational databases;
- Organizing virtual and in-person meetings;
- Spreadsheet, calendar, word processing, and email applications;
- Web content management systems and social media applications.
Preferred knowledge, skills and experience include organizing and conducting grant competitions or other review processes; knowledge of Federal grant making processes, including Grants.gov and NOAA’s Grants Online systems; and knowledge of the field of formal and/or informal education. Prefer a background in Earth or environmental sciences.
Must be able to pass a background investigation to obtain a security badge to enter the applicable government facility.
Education
BA/BS from an accredited, four year college or university. M.Sc. preferred.
