Description:
American Gold Seafoods farms Atlantic salmon. This position is an excellent way to get your foot in the door with Icicle Seafoods and the fishing industry. It may start out to be more of a part-time schedule but would offer the potential opportunity to transition into a fulltime position. Will be responsible for helping to maintain daily maintenance on the farm facilities, including feeding and monitoring the overall health of the fish. Work is performed primarily on floating fish pens which are located outdoors in the waters near Bainbridge Island, WA. This is an hourly position that will report to the site manager. Must bring sack lunch and water as food will not be provided during work shift.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for maintenance of site equipment and facilities. Including float scraping and fish net washing.
• Complete regular and scheduled fish feeding.
• Monitor overall health and size of fish stock.
• Assist with transfer of stock between pens and sites, harvesting of fish stock.
• Sort fish to maintain optimum health of stock.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Physically able to lift up to 75 pounds and to work on floating fish pens, moving freely between pens, docks, skiffs and larger boats.
• Must be able to work with hands, wrists and arms.
• Must be able to work on a vessel
• Must be able to work in all types of weather.
• Mechanical aptitude highly recommended.
• Availability to work extended hours, weekends and holidays; when necessary is a job requirement.
• Ability to swim and dive or willingness to learn to dive is highly recommended
