Position Overview: The Marine Science Educator will be an implementer of programs for the K-12, family and adult audiences within School and Family Programs. The Educator will work with the appropriate coordinator to oversee volunteers while instructing in the classroom, ensure the ongoing excellence of SF programs, and assist with the development of new programming as needed. Primary job functions: ? Deliver high quality programs in all areas of School and Family program audiences including but not limited to classroom programs for K-12 audience, outreach programs for K-12 audience, summer camp instruction, and family audience programs. Conduct programs in languages other than English as applicable. ? Working cooperatively with the coordinator, act as a program lead on specific programs as needed. ? Act as lead on the maintenance or creation of education collections both living and other as needed. ? Assist with the training of new temporary staff and volunteers in programming. ? Work with appropriate coordinator to write curriculum, develop programs or create educational materials as needed and in languages other than English as applicable. ? Contribute through professional conduct to a working environment that is energetic, innovative, and collaborative. ? Keep familiar with current research in informal/non-formal learning environments. ? Other Tasks such as maintenance and organization of school supplies, participation in regular meetings & program focus groups as needed. Reports to: School and Family Programs Manager Status: Exempt, salaried Hours of Work: Standard work week but must be flexible and available to work evenings and weekends as needed. Dated Needed: September 1, 2014 Salary and Benefits: Salary DOE. This is a full time Salaried/Exempt position.
