Description:
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission's Division of Marine Fisheries Management is seeking a full-time fisheries biologist for the Florida Artificial Reef Program. Duties include: Manage marine artificial reef construction, monitoring, and research contracts with local coastal governments, non-profit corporations and state universities utilizing allocated state and federal funding sources; Conduct SCUBA dive assessments to report on the performance/compliance of previously deployed artificial reef projects; Track state-wide artificial reef development activity and maintain the FWC artificial reef website; Develop and maintain effective working relationships with other agency managers, state and federal regulatory staff, local coastal government managers, media, general public and affected artificial reef stakeholders; Assist in developing or revising rules, management plans, and other policy documents related to the artificial reef program; Develop visual presentations and speaks at public meetings and workshops; Participate in Gulf and Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission artificial reef committees, and other marine fisheries meetings as required.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in the physical or natural sciences and a minimum of four years of professional experience or a master's degree in the physical or natural sciences and a minimum of two years of professional experience; • SCUBA certification.
