Description:
NESS is looking for instructors who have experience working with kids, a strong knowledge base of Marine Sciences and a contagious teaching energy. You must be motivated, able to work within a team as well as on your own and have proven skills working with children. Instructors are responsible for implementing an active, hands-on, experientiallyoriented program including physically demanding work, such as kayaking, snorkeling, surfing, stand-up paddle boarding, body boarding, fishing, and some heavy lifting. Experience in kayaking, surfing, fishing, and/or stand-up paddle boardingis important for all our instructors. You will be required to have your own wetsuit and snorkeling gear. This is a highenergy program where instructors spend long days working and teaching in a unique environment. Last but not least, itis the applicant’s responsibility to assure students stay safe while having an awesomeand life enriching experience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
? Follow NESS curriculum both on and off the water
? Work closely with your fellow instructors to plan, develop and implement lesson plans
? Use your time constructively and be prepared to fill class time when program plans change
? Teach a variety of programs to students of all ages
? Provide leadership to students and assist in overseeing interns
? Conduct yourself in the highest standards
? Help maintain aquariums
? Help implement NESS safety plan and maintain campus and offsite safety at all times

Minimum Requirements:
? BA or BS in Marine Science, Biology, Oceanography or a related science or Teacher Certification
? USCG OUPV 6-Pack License or greater
? ARC Waterfront Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid
? Proven ability to effectively manage and organize students
? Strong communication, decision making, logistical, and organizational skills
? Must have a Valid Driver’s License & your own transportation
? Able to pass a Government background check
? No conflicting summer commitments including travel, work or other leave of absence
? Strong desire to change the world for the better through education and action!
