Module 2 - ROV Frame & Buoyancy

Goal:

This should introduce materials that can be used for ROV construction beyond PVC frames.

Objectives

Upon completion of this module, the student should be able to:

  1. Discuss the usage of metal and plastic frame materials
  2. Develop basic ROV frame configurations utilizing a material other than PVC piping.
  3. Design buoyancy systems with calculations considering buoyancy needed, density of the buoyancy material.
  4. Identify the proper configuration and placement of buoyancy and ballast on the ROV
  5. Identify stable and unstable ROV platforms
Sections:
  1. Frame Materials
  2. Frame Configurations
  3. Buoyancy Materials
  4. Buoyancy Calculations
