Educational Partners

To reach our goal of improving the nation's marine technical workforce, it
is critical that the MATE Center work closely with other educational institutions.
By partnering with community colleges, high schools, and four-year institutions
across the nation, the MATE Center is having a definitive impact on the educational
opportunities available to all students and improving the education process
for all involved. Accomplishments include:
- Input from industry - We have collected and validated information
from industry in an effort to define the skills and abilities critical
to employee success in marine fields. This information can also provide
the foundation for partners to develop new and updated curricula.
- Internships - Through its internship program, the MATE Center
is offering exciting opportunities for students from partner institutions.
- Faculty development opportunities - Workshops sponsored by the
MATE Center provide an excellent venue for motivated faculty to gain new
insights and skills, which can improve classroom performance.
- ROV Competitions - MATE's national and regional ROV competitions
provide students and faculty with hands-on learning experiences and connect
them with employers and working professionals.
