Non-Vehicle Requirements

Team and school information for ROV Competition web site
Teams are required to submit information about their schools, team members, instructors, and mentors to include on the ROV Competition web site. Photos (digital jpeg or tif files at at least 72 dpi) are encouraged.

Technical papers & presentations
Student teams are required to submit technical papers describing their vehicles and the design and building process, including such information as design rationale, modifications made along the way, troubleshooting techniques, possible improvements for "next time," and lessons learned (i.e., skills and personal qualities gained) during the process. Students will give a team presentation of their papers as part of the competition activities. Papers must be submitted at least one month prior to the competition.

Hint: Keeping a project notebook during the design and building process will help organize these papers and presentations.

Resumes
Students are required to submit resumes outlining their skills, abilities, education, and experience. Resumes will be posted, along with team information, on the ROV Competition web site.

These resumes can be submitted as part of the MATE Center's Technical Internship Program application. Students participating in the event are encouraged to enroll in this program, which places students in both at-sea and shore-based technical positions. Please see www.marinetech.org/careers/internships.php for more information, including application procedures and a list of available internships.

Posters
Student teams are required to create posters (which may include text, photos, diagrams, and sketches) describing their vehicles and the design and building process. These posters will be on display as part of the competition activities. Student resumes will also be on display during this poster session.

Web sites (encouraged but not required)
Students can create team web sites with information about team members, instructors, mentors, and their ROVs. These web sites can be updated as often as students like, and up to the competition date.
