| Overview: The Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center and the Marine Technology Society's (MTS) ROV Committee are organizing an ROV design and building competition for high school and college students. Employers - industry, businesses, and research organizations - are becoming involved in the event by sponsoring the competing schools and colleges. |

| To facilitate the exposure of participating students to prospective employers. |

| To help students develop the skills necessary for careers in technical fields. These skills include technical as well as non-technical skills, such as communication and presentation skills and job search techniques, and personal quality traits, such as the ability to work as a team and think creatively. |
