The MATE Center and the Marine Technology Society’s ROV Committee are partnering with Ocean.US and the ORION Program to organize the 5th annual international student ROV design and building competition.  The Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory at the NASA Johnson Space Center is planning to host the event, which will be held in June 2006.

The 2006 ROV competition will focus on ocean observing systems.  Working with Ocean.US and the ORION Program, the MATE Center created a mission scenario that challenges teams to tasks associated with the operational aspects of deploying, operating, maintaining, and collecting data from observing systems.

See below for general information, mission scenarios and tasks, and design and building specifications.  The on-line registration form will be posted in early January.
