I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) www.imsg.com, leading a Scientific and Technical Support Team (IMSG Team, consisting of IMSG, Inc. and subcontracting companies) is looking for a qualified Research Engineer to support the new generation NOAA- weather satellites contract – SciTech-II in College Park, Maryland. We are working in an applied science and R&D environment monitored or led by U.S. government scientists, managers, and principle investigators, and working along with other U.S. government, research institutes, and private industry staff.
Job Duties Include:
- Provide programming support for the next generation NOAA weather satellites using industry standard software engineering techniques.
- Design, code, test and document interfaces of moderate to high complexity.
- Prepare documentation for and participate in algorithm software development lifecycle reviews.
- Transition research algorithms to operations.
- Act as liaison to the algorithm development team in order to understand algorithm requirements and design issues.

- US citizenship or Green Card required.
Required Skills:
- 3+ years of experience in Fortran 90/95 or C/C++
- Experience with Perl, Python, or shell scripting
- Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux
Desired Skills:
- Experience processing and managing large volumes of data
- Experience with interoperability between Fortran 90/95 and C/C++
- Experience with CM tools such as ClearCase
- Familiarity with scientific data formats such as HDF and netCDF
- Previous integration experience
- A background in satellites and remote sensing
- Previous experience contributing to open-source projects
Education: BS or greater degree with formal course work in Computer Science.
Experience: Three-plus years in software development.
