Description:
Assist with the operations of the Inner Space Center (ISC.) Assist with the implementation of ocean science education and outreach programs, both at sea and on shore.
Requirements:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support ISC operations.
Support ISC communications and social media activities.
Supervise ISC undergraduate watchstanders.
Assist with the dissemination of the results and products of ISC’s projects.
Assist in the development and implementation of ocean science education initiatives.
Assist with the development of ocean science education materials for teacher institutes, professional development programs, and classroom use.
Assist with workshops, conferences and short courses.
Assist with project reports.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with travel and meeting logistics for international, national and regional meetings.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, scanners, digital cameras, graphic software, statistical software, field and laboratory equipment.

REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree in marine related science;
2. Minimum of two years’ experience in ocean science education and outreach;
3. Demonstrated experience working in a university outreach setting;
4. Demonstrated experience translating content related to ocean science research expeditions for non-experts;
5. Demonstrated participation in at-sea research expeditions;
6. Demonstrated experience working with K-12 students;
7. Demonstrated technical experience in logging data from research expeditions;
8. Demonstrated experience with the U.S. research fleet operations;
9. Demonstrated experience with state and federal science education standards;
10. Ability to provide own transportation;
11. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations, including groups under-represented in math and science disciplines.
PREFERRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree in marine biology;
2. Demonstrated familiarity with ISC Mission Control operations;
3. Demonstrated familiarity with ocean literacy principles;
4. Demonstrated multi-media database development.
