Data Operations Specialist Coastal Carolina University is currently accepting applications for the following position: Data Operations Specialist (Research Specialist III) in the Burroughs and Chapin Center for Marine and Wetland Studies. Duties include data collection, archiving into databases, reduction and analysis of geophysical, hydrodynamic, water quality, meteorological and other environmental data sets; development and maintenance of static and dynamic data products for online distribution including GIS-based formats; maintenance of the School's website; provision of exceptional customer service to all constituents, including but not limited to, faculty, staff, students, visitors and the community at large. Requirements:
Required qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Marine Science, Geoscience, Computer Science or related fields. Experience in acquiring, archiving, processing and managing large marine, geophysical, meteorological, water quality and other environmental datasets. Experience with a range of data acquisition and processing software (e.g. Caris, Hypack, SonarPro, Matlab, ArcGis, Aquarius Informatics, etc.) plus databases (MySQL, Access) and programming languages that support coding for web applications (e.g. pHp, Python). Preferred qualifications: Master's Degree in Marine Science, Geoscience, Computer Science or related fields. Familiarity with computer operating systems (Linux), servers and LAN networks.
