Environmental Education
Seasonal, part-time. Non-profit Elizabeth River Project is looking for environmental educators/deckhands for the world’s first floating wetland classroom. Build your resume with a fun, one-of-a-kind experience on an award winning education vessel. Gain confidence in public speaking while engaging children and adults in hands-on activities. Learn in-depth about environmental challenges and solutions while fostering a new generation of river stewards. Ideal applicants are team players, work positively with youth, have a science background although diverse backgrounds are welcome such as; math, music, art, science, history, engineering, green technology, horticulture, maritime and biology. Experience with interactive youth education preferred but not required. We are looking for energetic, people-oriented candidates with strong communication skills, proven reliability, prompt and professional attitudes. Great opportunity to serve as a mentor for young stewards.
Will also assist with daily barge maintenance; must be able to lift 50 lbs. and love outdoors. Season is March 20-June 9. The season may extend into July for Barge Summer Camps. Up to 25 hours a week, depending on weather. Typical hours 9-2pm, MF with occasional evenings and weekends. If you are not available at least 3 days a week M-F from 9-2, you need not apply. Background check will be required. Must have transportation. This seasonal, outdoor position is $10 an hour.
