Description:
In collaboration with a variety of government, tribal, business, academic and NGO partners, the San Francisco Bay and Outer Coast Sentinel Site Cooperative seeks to build sea-level rise resilience and protect critical ecosystem and community services. To help achieve this vision, the five cooperative partners (California Sea Grant, San Francisco Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Bay Conservation and Development Commission, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration [NOAA] Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary, and NOAA Office for Coastal Management) seek a coordinator that will connect San Francisco Bay decision makers to critical NOAA and NOAA partner resources to improve their capacity to understand and address sea-level rise. The coordinator also will work with the California Sea Grant Extension Program to share the successes and lessons of the Cooperative beyond the Bay area, expand the reach of the Cooperative, and bring innovative and novel approaches and capabilities from other California coastal communities to the Bay area.
Requirements:
Required qualifications include a PhD in either marine or a related environmental science, background and interest in sea level rise science, and background and interest in developing strategies for sea level rise adaptation. Experience with meeting facilitation and writing proposals and demonstrable success in securing extramural grants are preferred.
