Title: Fisheries Technician 1- CWT Surveys (19-1075) Location: Lodi, CA (95240) Anticipated Start Date: March 25, 2019 Position Type: Temporary (6 months or less), Hourly/Non-Exempt Benefits Eligible: No | www.psmfc.org/benefits Salary Target: $16.09/hour Job Number: 19-1075 How to Apply: Online at www.psmfc.org/careers Closing Date: February 28, 2019 at Midnight Position/Project Specifics: PSMFC is looking for one fisheries technician to support the work of the East Bay Municipal Utility District in the Lodi Fisheries and Wildlife Office. Position start date is March 25, 2019. Primary responsibilities include participation in the coded wire tag program on the Mokelumne River. In addition, the fisheries technician will assist with rotary screw trap operations to collect juvenile salmonid migration data, video monitoring, seining, electrofishing and data entry. The fisheries technician will ensure that survey equipment and vehicles are maintained in good operating condition. The position requires long field days in inclement weather on the Mokelumne River below Camanche Dam. Work often includes traveling by boat to conduct field work. Duties may require maintaining physical condition necessary for standing, walking, hiking or kayaking for extended periods of time and moderate to heavy lifting. Must possess physical characteristics to perform the critical and important duties of the job, including sufficient strength to lift 40 lbs of equipment in the field and sufficient swimming skill for self-preservation. Must be willing to work out of doors in a variety of weather conditions. Must be willing to work overtime as needed. ** This position requires a valid driver's license and all offers of employment will be contingent upon passing a driving record check. **
Requirements:
A range of experience and education may be presented. At the lower end of the range, candidates must present six months of General Experience* OR one year of education above the high school level that included at least six semester hours in any combination of scientific or technical courses. An equivalent combination of experience and education is also qualifying. At the upper end of the range, candidates must present one year of Specialized Experience** OR a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with a major or at least 24 semester hours of coursework in any combination of scientific or technical courses. An equivalent combination of experience and education is also qualifying. *General Experience is (1) any type of work that demonstrates the applicant's ability to perform the work of the position or (2) experience that provided a familiarity with biological sciences or the processes of the biological sciences. **Specialized Experience is experience that equips the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position being filled.
