The Lawrence Hall of Science is looking for elementary science curriculum developers. They especially need people who combine expertise and experience working and teaching in early elementary classrooms with a strong science background (preferably at least a BA or BS in science). And here's the description: The Learning Design Group is a curriculum research and development program at the Lawrence Hall of Science with a portfolio of award-winning science curriculum materials for use by pre-K through Grade 8. One of these programs, Seeds of Science/Roots of Reading, is a combined science and literacy program for Grades 2-5, led by Jacqueline Barber, Associate Director of the Lawrence Hall of Science, and P. David Pearson, Professor and Dean Emeritus of UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Education. The program is undergoing a substantial revision and expansion in order to extend the program for Grades K-5 and to address the Next Generation Science Standards. The Learning Design Group seeks to hire 14 Elementary Science Curriculum Developers to join the team. Salary is dependent on experience. Responsibilities • Plans and develops new curricular units for grades K-2 or 2-5. • Revises existing curriculum to meet new education standards. • Determines instructor objectives and methods within established guidelines. • Provides instruction in pilot classroom settings. • Evaluates, synthesizes, and adjusts curriculum materials based on results from pilots and field tests. • May monitor student responses in pilot and field test settings. • May serve as a work leader.
