Summary: The Science Educator is directly responsible for the maintenance, creation, implementation, execution and volunteer training for both free and fee-based programs associated with the Loggerhead Marinelife Center (LMC). The Science Educator is also responsible for evening seasonal programs and programming for iconic LMC events.
Qualifications: Possess or pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline. Must have the ability to lead environmental education programs for different age levels, as well as have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing and be well-organized. Knowledge of Florida’s coastal ecosystems and sea turtles is also essential.

Requirements:
Job Responsibilities: Includes, but not limited to the following:
• The management and effective implementation of free and fee-based programs
o Coordinate with Education Administrator to manage program scheduling
o Training volunteers to independently run educational programs
o Ordering supplies for all public programming
o Coordinating program expenses/budget with Education Administrator
o Track program success and attendance, utilizing high months of attendance as scheduling opportunities
• Work with the volunteer coordinator to train and track program volunteers
• Assist in the training and supervision of seasonal summer evening programs
o Turtle Walk program
o Hatchling Release program
• Create and implement programming components for iconic annual events such as:
o World Ocean’s Day
o Blue Friday
o SEAsonal Celebration
o Marinelife Day at the Gardens Mall
o TurtleFest
o Turtleween
• Create new and mission-centric recurring programs that cater to all ages
• Work with education team to maintain and update programming portion of LMC website
• Collaborate with education team to lead VIP tours of the facility for special guests
• Work collaboratively with the marketing team for creative ways to promote new and existing programs
• Other duties as assigned.
