Description:
The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Earth, Environmental and Marine Sciences (SEEMS) is seeking candidates to develop a research program in the biological or chemical aspects of ocean processes. We are interested in candidates that will complement our existing faculty research areas including: continental shelf, benthic, planktonic, and fish species population connectivity; biochemistry and marine geochemistry; and ocean observing and sensing. We are particularly interested in candidates that bring expertise in physical circulation, particularly at the sub-mesoscale and mesoscale that can help expand our program to include interdisciplinary oceanographic studies in the broader Gulf of Mexico and beyond. For instance, biological or chemical oceanographers that incorporate ocean sensing or physical circulation components in their work are of interest, as are physical oceanographers that have a strong biological or chemical component in their research. This is an Assistant Professor ranked position and will teach advanced undergraduate and graduate courses, and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the School. This is a full-time Tenure-Track faculty position beginning Fall 2018.
Requirements:
The minimum requirement is a Ph. D. from an accredited university in a marine science related discipline.
