Responsible for entry, organization, QA/QC, and validation of data. Oversees technician staff in data entry and cleanup. Collaborates with external agency staff to assimilate and validate all inland data sources. ·Using relational database software, the incumbent will be responsible for programmatically generating scale aging assignments from all Central Valley scale collections as well as from collections sampled in California's mixed-stock ocean salmon fisheries, assimilating release and recovery information from multiple inland escapement surveys, programmatically merging databases and performing validation checks to determine scale reader accuracy, and producing age-specific escapement estimates using a maximum likelihood estimator. The resulting age-specific escapement estimates will be used in cohort reconstructions and the development of sibling regressions. ·Leading a sampling program to record biological data, retrieve salmon heads for the recovery of coded-wire tags (CWT), and collect scale samples from fish sampled during escapement at Central Valley hatcheries as well as from recreational and commercial ocean salmon fisheries.
