Description:
Industrial Economics, Incorporated (IEc) is a privately held consulting company located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with three decades of experience providing expert environmental analysis to clients in government, business, and not-for-profit organizations. We are seeking an environmental scientist/ecologist with an M.S. or Ph.D. in ecology, biology, marine biology, toxicology or a related field. The successful candidate will support our dynamic natural resource damage assessment practice through analysis of data to quantify impacts to natural resources resulting from exposure to oil and to quantify the ecological benefits resulting from proposed restoration projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting applied analysis in the context of natural resource damage assessments, which shall include, but may not be limited to, designing and implementing quantitative and statistical analyses, interpreting and communicating results (verbally and in writing), recommending modifications to project design, organizing and moderating expert panels, conducting literature reviews, and report writing. In addition, the candidate may participate in the development of sampling plans, planning field sampling activities, providing logistical support, and other duties as assigned. This is a temporary, full-time, project based position eligible for healthcare and other benefits. We anticipate that this project should last through December 2014, but may continue longer. The duration of employment will be contingent upon the scope and duration of the project, as well as job performance.

Skills Requirements: The candidate must have excellent analytical, organizational, and writing skills, and be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced consulting environment. A high degree of initiative and creativity are also required. Preferred qualifications include: Knowledge of marine ecosystems Fieldwork and/or laboratory experience Knowledge of Microsoft Access and GIS applications Knowledge of natural resource damage assessments Experience with oil spills Two or more years relevant work experience
