Oceanic Institute of Hawaii Pacific University, is a research organization dedicated to applied marine science and aquaculture. Job Summary: Under the direction of the Executive Director of Oceanic Institute of Hawaii Pacific University, the Training and Education Coordinator will develop, design, coordinate and deliver training and education programs for Oceanic Institute of Hawaii Pacific University (OI). Programs will focus on leveraging OI's accomplishments in aquaculture, aquatic feeds development, and marine conservation. Delivery of a long-term education growth plan and expansion of OI's training and education portfolio through secured funding that aligns with OI's mission will be an essential component of this position. Key Responsibilities: •Secure and manage education-related grants and program funding proposals including federal agencies, national, state and local private foundations; serve as Principal Investigator (PI) on education-related grants. •Develop engaging educational and outreach events throughout the year and develop educational materials which support OI's mission, grantees and key community partners; build and strengthen relationships with key collaborative partners. •Consult with and advise assigned staff and determine objectives and provides support to program activities. •Recruit, train, and maintain a strong and diverse pool of volunteers to help deliver education and training programs. •Document all program planning, policies, procedures, practices, and logistics to ensure quality control and sustainability. •Structure and monitor outcome measures and evaluation procedures for programs. •Oversee the development of budgets and track expenditures. •Facilitate/coordinate workshops. •Write, edit and oversee the design of outreach materials, including brochures, newsletters and website; manage online communications, including creating a blog, Twitter and Facebook accounts. •Identify and participate in public forums to raise the level of awareness of OI's strategic vision; coordinate fundraising events. •Perform additional duties directed by Executive Director to achieve success of programs and meet OI's goals. Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications: B.A. or B.S. in marine science, biology, or a related course of study; minimum of 3 years experience in program administration and curriculum development in the field of education; experience in teaching marine science-related topics, working with youth, schools, businesses, government officials, and community groups; knowledge of grant application process; computer literate and comfortable with internet research and online applications; public relations and communication skills with solid writing, editing, and presentations skills, outgoing, helpful and positive personality; ability to work well and collaborate with diverse groups of people, including research scientists and faculty, by listening and synthesizing ideas; ability to handle sensitive situations in a tactful outdoors; strong passion for marine science education. Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in marine science, biology, environmental sciences, environmental education, or related course of study; deep familiarity with a variety of communication strategies and methods such as developing written materials/briefings, on-line web content development, brochure development, layouts, etc.; ability to work on multiple projects and shift priorities as needed.
