Description:
This position is for highly motivated and passionate individuals who value experiential education and international travel. Program Leaders work directly with our students, communities, activities' operators, and other program leaders in our destination countries during the summer season from June through August. Program Leaders represent Rustic Pathways and mentor our students as they lead them through outdoor adventure activities, community service projects, travel accommodations, transportation from one place to another, and down time. You have the opportunity to engage with amazing communities and change the lives of youth across the globe. This particular program engages students in marine conservation projects ranging from coral reef restoration to mangrove swamp restoration, dolphin tracking, beach erosion measurement, and community education.
Requirements:
Must be 22 years of age or older by June 1, 2015. Professional working proficiency in English and Spanish. Experience in the following areas: - Outdoor Educator, Leadership Instructor, or Camp Counselor - Community Service Coordinator - NGO or Non-Profit Professional - Adventure, Wilderness, or Tour Guide - Wilderness Medical Instructor, Nurse or EMT - Teacher or Professor - Professional Photographer or Journalist - Surf Instructor - Mountaineering guide - Marine Biologist - Veterinarian - Sociologist or Anthropologist - Naturalist or Conservationist Basic CPR and First Aid certification required from a licensed provider. Classroom or in-person training only. Online certifications are no longer acceptable. Certifications must be submitted 3 weeks before staff training. Preferred Certifications (Including but not limited to) - Wilderness First Responder - Wilderness First Aid (Advanced) - Emergency Response Personnel / EMT - Ocean Lifeguard training - Teaching Certifications (i.e.TEFL/TESL ) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. - Personal experience in international travel (as student, leader, or for pleasure). - Patient, enthusiastic, analytical, and solution-oriented. - Passion for international travel and appreciation for diversity in cultures and experiences. - Understands the value of experiential education and travel for high school students. - Eager to learn from colleagues and enjoys open collaboration and teamwork. - Able to maintain excellence under pressure and ever-changing conditions.
