Course Information
The purpose of this course is to provide information necessary to migrate beyond switch-box ROV control to computer controlled ROVs.
This Course will cover
- A review of ROV basics
- Introduction to computer aided design tools
- Pressure Housings
- Advanced ROV configurations
- Power Systems
- Control Systems
- Computer Control
- Sensors and Actuators
Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to
- Determine the ROV configuration necessary for specific tasks
- Design pressure vessels and tethers needed to support the ROV
- Develop power systems to control the ROV
- Develop and test a basic ROV software control system
- Develop and test a basic Human Machine Interface (HMI) to control the ROV
- Develop sensors and actuators to support ROV task requirements.
The course will utilize the following methods
- Lectures both written and video
- PowerPoint slides
- Hands-on Lab exercises
- Assigned reading from Underwater Robotics : Science, Design & Fabrication
