Description:

Key Responsibilities ? Engage 3rd and 6th grade students in rigorous science education. ? Prepare materials for hands-on science lessons. ? Assist with instruction of lessons as needed. ? Help facilitate field trips to the Living Lab. ? Assist with classroom management and engagement of the students Volunteer Impact ? Expose underserved youth to innovative science and conservation curriculum. ? Spark student interest in science careers. ? Gain classroom experience, improve science knowledge and connect with STEM professionals. ? Help students to believe and achieve in science. Commitment ? One 5-7 hour shift per week from April 22nd -July 12th, 2019. o Time for the shift varies between 7am-4pm. o No more than two missed shifts. o Orientation Required ? Optional but encouraged end of unit Volunteer Appreciation Event!


Requirements:

Requirements ? Willing to pay $25 for Ocean Discovery Volunteer uniform. ? Interest in the science, conservation, or education fields. ? Commitment to acting as a role model for underserved youth. Preferred Qualifications ? Interest in gaining education experience. ? Ability to communicate in Spanish or other languages.
