Description:

The US Army Corps Field Research Facility is hiring an electronics technician to support oceanographic data collection. This is a full time permanent federal position with full benefits. The Field Research Facility is responsible for continuous long-term data records from a variety of ocean and met gauges. Maintaining these gauges and ensuring reliable data collection is a key role of this position. Primary responsibilities include contributing to the installation, oversight, and maintenance of a suite of oceanographic and meteorological sensors deployed in the near shore coastal environment. This includes providing expertise regarding power and communications for real-time oceanographic instrumentation and using complex test equipment to diagnose and repair data collection issues. This is a responsible support position that directly interfaces with and proactively supports our team of experienced professionals with whom you will work closely. This team will look to you for innovative solutions to interface and power requirements that arise when deploying instrumentation in the coastal environment.


Requirements:

Ability to provide expertise and innovative solutions to a range of electronics challenges that arise when deploying instrumentation in the coastal ocean environment. Should have experience designing and constructing power and communication systems as well as diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems (power and interface issues).
