Aloha, Do you have a strong background in data systems and a passion to bring marine conservation science up to speed in the data science world? We have an open position on our Data Services Team at the Pacific Islands Fisheries Science Center (PIFSC) of NOAA on O'ahu, Hawai'i. The Data Services Team supports the Ecosystem Sciences Division of PIFSC with data management, app development, scripting, and other tool development for datasets collected for coral reef ecosystem monitoring efforts. Overall team duties involve overseeing the data life cycle for the division's datasets, potentially assisting in field work (annual visits to various Pacific Islands), and technical support for our scientific teams. A large focus of our team is making our federally collected data publicly available and up to standard, along with everything encompassed in that process; this involves implementing data governance rules, ensuring data integrity, migrating data between systems, and preparing the division for future advancements in technologies. This specific position is targeted for someone who has a minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience with database systems, and can assist with optimizing our current data architecture. The ideal candidate has an IT background, works well on a team and with diverse groups of people. Salary commensurate with experience.
