Description:

Are you interested in joining a dynamic team responsible for curating California commercial fisheries data? The California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Marine Region is seeking a Staff Services Analyst to help improve submission rates and overall quality of the data. Under general supervision of a Research Data Supervisor I, the Staff Services Analyst will serve in the Marine Fisheries Statistical Unit as the lead for compliance monitoring of commercial fish businesses required to submit electronic fish tickets. The incumbent will also monitor compliance with commercial passenger fishing vessel (CPFV) owners who are required to submit either paper or electronic logs. Licensing and registration will also be monitored along with monitoring other forms and processes associated with commercial fishing operations. The incumbent will utilize business intelligence tools and various databases to identify compliance patterns and coordinate with fish dealers, operators, and other Department staff to accurately describe and enhance the quality of commercial fisheries data. The incumbent will also assist as needed with Fisheries Disaster Relief efforts and prepare documentation and reports to assist in the facilitation of relief efforts.
