Description:

Duties As Oracle Developer for PL/SQL & APEX Applications, the incumbent is responsible for applying specialized software programming knowledge to fisheries data collection, data processing, and data management within the Atlantic Coastal Cooperative Statistics Program (ACCSP). Specific duties include 1) Maintain and extend Oracle PL/SQL data processing to support Atlantic fisheries management that securely collects, stores, and distributes data. 2) Perform Oracle APEX application programming with an understanding of web technologies and software stacks that includes design, development, testing, debugging, and maintaining secure software applications which meet technical and functional requirements. 3) Ensure that applications comply with security mandates, are consistent with the current and planned infrastructure and data environments, and are written using industry best practices and best available technology. 4) Work with the ACCSP Partners to optimize the functionality and adherence to technical requirements of ACCSP software. 5) Follow established quality control/quality assurance protocols for all information systems during the data life cycle. 6) Provide technical support for ACCSP Partner agencies. 7) Perform related duties as required as the ACCSP evolves. ACCSP utilizes Oracle products for data storage and dissemination. See ACCSP's website (www.accsp.org) for comprehensive information about the program. Supervision and Work Environment The position of Oracle Developer for PL/SQL & APEX Applications is based out of the Arlington, Virginia office of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) and will require occasional overnight travel, primarily along the Atlantic coast. The incumbent reports to the ACCSP Deputy Director. This position is not qualified for overtime under the Commission's policies. Compensatory time and flexible working hours (including part-time telecommuting with supervisory approval) are available under the Commission's policies. However, the Oracle Developer for PL/SQL & APEX Applications is a salaried employee and is expected to put in the effort required to make the ACCSP successful. Requirements:

Qualifications A degree in computer science, fisheries science, or a related field. Experience and knowledge of Oracle database PL/SQL and Oracle APEX development and testing required. Proven writing and speaking skills, communication, coordination, and interpersonal skills, and experience with data management should be demonstrated. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
