Description:

Are you interested in joining a dynamic multidisciplinary team responsible for managing tabular and spatial marine resource data? California Department of Fish and Wildlife's Marine Region Data Management Project is seeking an Environmental Scientist to facilitate data sharing with partners, support the Region's Geographic Information Systems (GIS) needs, and assist in the development of internal and external applications to access California's fisheries data. Under the general direction of a Senior Environmental Scientist Supervisor, the Environmental Scientist will provide scientific and data management support to the Marine Region. The incumbent will contribute to designs in existing and emerging CDFW data systems and applications; perform GIS processing, data production, and map production; and will maintain a role as a data manager liaison, representing CDFW in sharing data with external researchers. The incumbent will administer, and track data sharing procedures related to fulfilling external requests for confidential and non-confidential data, including oversight of formal data sharing agreements and memoranda of understanding with state, federal, and third-party organizations. The incumbent advises management, departmental staff, legislative bodies, governmental entities, commissions, and agencies on findings related to marine resource management and research.
