The Marine Operations Department is searching for a Mission Coordinator to join their team. This is a non-exempt, part-time position and is eligible for benefits. We anticipate that this position will work an average of 20 hours per week. JOB SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Project Manager (Mission Manager), this position provides administrative support and assists the Mission Manager in all areas of mission planning and implementation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Manages the WHOI Alucia and Umbra website, including maintenance of existing sections and development of new sections Independently disseminates and aggregates pre-cruise and post-cruise assessment reports Gathers all necessary pro formas & budgets from all key personnel and completes cruise financial documents Responsible for agent bill allocations Independently prepares monthly reports and metrics NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs such other duties as the supervisor may deem necessary DESIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, or marine discipline or equivalent related experience. Experience in mission planning, cruise logistics, and/or sea-going experience is required. Mission planning/cruise logistics experience may include generating budgets and tracking spending, allocating expenses on incoming bills/invoices, coordinating schedules, clearances, etc. with port agents, managing equipment and shipments to vessels, obtaining permits, etc. Previous experience in an Oceanographic related administrative role is highly desirable. Familiarity with oceanographic instrumentation, underwater vehicles, over-the-side operations, and advance imaging is a plus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
