Description:
We seek a creative, dynamic, and intelligent Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team designing and building advanced underwater vehicles and related technologies. The successful candidate will work directly under the Senior Mechanical Engineer, and will work on a wide variety of projects with little oversight and achieve requirements and pass qualification. His/her responsibilities will include all aspects of underwater vehicle design, including detailed CAD design, creation of engineering prints, BOM creation and maintenance, FEA analysis, and calculations of weight / displacement. There will be a focus on assembly, supporting testing of the final product. We are looking for a best fit according to skills, culture, attitude, and ability to deliver.
Requirements:
In addition to the specific requirements listed below, this position requires excellent design skills, a demonstrated technical proficiency with CAD software (primarily AutoDesk Inventor), passion for creativity, and excellent communication skills. S/he will have exemplary technical skill in Mechanical Engineering and ideally possess a high level of hands-on skill in the assembly of dynamic motion-based systems, vehicles, or robotics. Preference will be given to individuals demonstrating outstanding creative problem-solving skills and ability to work with little oversight. Further preference will be given to individuals with technical skills in other disciplines, such as microprocessors, PCB design and layout, and common programming languages. BS Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering discipline - 3 years relevant experience preferred; outstanding graduates will be considered - Proficiency with 3D CAD software (Autodesk Inventor experience preferred) - Demonstrated exemplary design skills - Experience with drafting standards, tolerances, and BOM creation - Experience with designing for production, ERP, revision control, release process - Familiarity with materials science and properties of engineering materials, including metals, composites, and plastics - Experience working on hands-on projects and proficiency with machine tools, rapid prototyping and fabrication
