Summary Statement
Under the supervision of the Administrative/Operations Manager, the Admissions Coordinator works primarily at the admissions/information station at the Seymour Marine Discovery Center at Long Marine Lab, and assists with other operational tasks of the Center as needed.

Requirements:
Qualifications / Competencies
- Experience with cash handling, operating a point of sale system, and preparing daily cash reports.
- Experience with database, spreadsheet, word processing, and e-mail programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact diplomatically and effectively with diverse groups and individuals including donors, members, campus representatives, and faculty, as well as families, school groups, tour groups, and the walk-in public.
- Excellent customer service and telephone skills, including ability to provide correct, concise program and event information.
- Ability to train and supervise a variety of college student employees and work well with volunteers of all ages and abilities.
- Ability and willingness to learn: new information, policies, and procedures from both verbal and written sources; audio-visual equipment operation; detailed program and event policies; basic marine science information (willingness to attend 10-week docent training course if needed); or other information as needed.
- Organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercise good judgment, and work safely.
- Knowledge of general office procedures.
Preferred Qualifications / Competencies
- Familiarity with Macintosh, Word, Excel, FileMaker, and point of sale software programs.
- Familiarity with daily operations of a busy museum or visitor center.
- Confident in addressing groups of various sizes/types, from preschool to VIP guests.
- Retail experience.
- Knowledge of marine science.
