Semester at Sea (operated jointly by the Institute for Shipboard Education and its university partner Colorado State University) currently is recruiting a faculty member with a focus in Marine Science for the Fall 2020 voyage, a 1-semester appointment to teach with the onboard faculty of about 27 individuals representing a broad range of academic disciplines. Specifically, we are interested to fill the position ofOceans & Sustainability Specialist, associated with the Global Studies course; please see the attached job description. Expressions of interest for subsequent semesters also are welcome. Semester at Sea is a long-established international education program that each semester brings several hundred students on a worldwide voyage of comparative global studies, visiting 8 to 10 countries in the context of fully accredited regular course work on board the MV World Odyssey. The faculty member usually must have a PhD, a record of excellent undergraduate teaching, international interests and experience, additional relevant academic record, and commitment to being part of a living-learning community for about 105 days at sea and in port countries. The faculty member would be part of the faculty team delivering the Global Studies course, and would teach 1 additional course in Oceanography or a related subject. To be available to participate in the Fall 2020 voyage, the faculty member must have approved leave from their home institution, or be emeritus faculty, or have some similar availability.
