Description:
MPWMD is seeking energetic and enthusiastic individuals to assist in various fisheries and aquatic resources programs on Carmel River, Monterey County. Two positions are available for the Spring season. Fisheries Aides will be working with National Marine Fisheries Services staff. The fisheries aide will assist in such duties as: • Tagging adult steelhead at the adult trap o entering the trap and netting fish o holding the fish while it is tagged o recording data • Tagging juvenile steelhead and rainbow trout o handling buckets of water o recording data o organizing gear • Operating and maintaining a rotary screw trap o boating through the Los Padres reservoir o netting fish o removing debris from the trap • Downloading antenna data and maintaining PIT tag antennas.
Requirements:
A combination of some undergraduate biology coursework and/or prior field experience.
