Description:
The Data Platform Manager will be responsible for managing, curating, and sharing the data, including QA/QC and the incorporation of visualization and other new and innovative methods for making SOI's data publicly accessible. This includes building and maintaining web-based user interfaces to improve accessibility and visualization of the data and working with the global oceanographic and atmospheric data communities to allow for seamless integration and workflow. The Data Platform Manager must have experience working with a cloud platform, will represent SOI in technical professional settings, and may, occasionally, spend time at sea. This position may require travel domestically and/or internationally.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a pertinent STEM field and/or a minimum of 5 years of related experience Basic Knowledge of state-of-the-art appropriate data-related technologies and tools Familiarity with visualization platforms and tools and/or expertise in development of new software systems Creative thinking on how to handle Big Data and implement innovative tools Prioritizing and managing multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously Effectively communicating complex technical concepts to various counterparts
