Description:
The Cooperative Institute for Marine Ecosystem Resource Studies is seeking an Ocean Acoustic Engineer. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position. The successful candidate will join the OSU-CIMERS acoustics lab at the Hatfield Marine Science Center Newport, Oregon, support research operations, plan and take a lead in design, fabrication and integration of moderately complex ocean acoustic systems and autonomous platforms. The candidate will work with a team of researchers, engineers and technicians at OSU-CIMRS to ensure reliability of new and existing systems and data quality through electronic-board-level and software design. The candidate coordinates system development logistics to meet the goals of sponsored agencies including NOAA PMEL, Navy and DoE through effective communication in both verbal and written formats. The candidate will also engage with NOAA-PMEL Engineering staff in Seattle, WA.
