I.M. Systems Group, Inc. (IMSG) www.imsg.com, leading a Scientific and Technical Support Team (IMSG Team, consisting of IMSG, Inc. and subcontracting companies) is looking for qualified scientists, analysts, system developers, engineers, and science management support candidates to support the NOAA-wide Science and Technical (SciTech) Support Services Contract – SciTech-II. Under this Contract, we are currently soliciting candidates for a new Task Order to provide technical and engineering services in support of the NOAA-NASA Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Calibration/Validation (Cal/Val) plan. JPSS is the next generation U.S. operational polar-orbiting environmental satellite system. We are working in an applied science and R&D environment monitored or led by U.S. government scientists, managers, and principle investigators, and working along with other U.S. government, research institutes, and private industry staff. Most of the positions are located at the NOAA/NASA facilities in Greenbelt, Maryland. Actual hiring of candidates will be in mid January 2014, after the potential Task Order award.
The scope of work mainly supports NOAA JPSS Office in the following areas:
1. Data Product Engineering: responsible for engineering definition and oversight of computer science development of the environmental data products of the Ground System, for software management of the government furnished algorithms that produce those products, and for verification of correct software implementation according to specification.
2. Data Product Algorithms: responsible for science management oversight of the Algorithm Calibration and Validation Science Teams (ACVST) in algorithm theoretical basis development; instrument calibration; algorithm characterization; data product validation; algorithm discrepancy detection and correction; formulation of product quality monitoring methodologies; and algorithm science maintenance.
3. JPSS Program Systems Engineering: responsible for analyzing application of Data Format and Metadata Requirements to customer needs; overseeing Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) implementation of product format and description; coordinating the Data Format Working Group (DFWG); maintaining documentation; performing trade studies; overseeing and performing configuration control; assessing and managing DPE risks; and defining external interfaces.

Annual salary is negotiable based on candidate qualifications and project funding availability.

Requirements:
General Requirement/Preference:
· B.S. degree in related field with sufficient experience or Graduate degrees in relevant disciplines including but not limited to computer science, system engineering, remote sensing, atmospheric science, geophysics, and mathematics
· Solid math and physics background in understanding and interpreting signals contained in satellite remote sensing
· Knowledge of satellite environmental remote sensing software product development and generation
· Knowledge of satellite ground systems and satellite programs
· Familiarity with Cal/Val and support to environmental satellite scientists
· Science software engineering
· Configuration management
· Solid programming skills in computer languages including C++, Perl, Python, or Fortran.
· Proven track record in relevant field(s) and work experience in NASA and NOAA environment is a plus.
· Most positions require U.S. green card or citizenship; exceptions will be made for foreign national candidates with outstanding background.
· Team player
· Good communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
