Module 1 – Review of ROV Components

Goal:

This module is a review of ROV concepts.  High level descriptions of ROV systems will be covered providing a starting point for students in this course.  It is expected that much of this is review material.

Objectives

Upon completion of this module, the student should be able to describe the purpose of the following ROV Components:

  1. Power Source
  2. Control System
  3. Tether
  4. Structure/Frame
  5. Buoyancy
  6. Propulsion
  7. Sensors
  8. Actuators
  9. Payload
  10. Ballast

In addition, students should be able to describe the modern-day uses of ROVs as well as describe safety practices when working around ROVs
