Description: We are looking for enthusiastic individuals (ages 16 and up) who are just as passionate about teaching as they are about our local marine environment! We have two positions available. Morning Tour Docents will help the Aquatic Nursery staff teach visiting students (K-12) about local marine animals, aquaculture, conservation and research. Afternoon Interpretation Docents will interact with the public and share information about local marine animals, aquaculture, conservation and research. A part of Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, the Aquatic Nursery is a working laboratory where visitors have access to active scientific research, and to scientists-in-training who are conducting projects under the guidance of the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium's professional staff. Interns engage guests of all ages in learning about local marine animals, aquaculture, conservation and research. The Aquatic Nursery is seeking an intern to assist staff in teaching K-12 students about local marine life, conservation and scientific processes. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals, 18 and older, who are passionate about teaching, science and our local marine environment! This is an unpaid internship. Responsibilities: - Teach K-12 students and the public about local marine life - Teach Aquatic Nursery tour stations to students and the public - Assist in set up and break down of tour stations - Care for animals used in tours - Develop educational worksheets for tour use


Requirements:

Requirements: - 18 years or older - Graduated high school, preferably enrolled in a college program focusing on biology or education - Experience working with students is preferable - Desire to share passion for marine life and science with others Dates of Internship: Tours run from October 2014 through June 2015. Interns can begin as early as October with an end date to be determined with applicant and their supervisor. Competitive applicants will be able to attend an information session on Wednesday, September 10th from 9am to 12pm. Interested?
