Description:

Fort Caswell, a 250-acre coastal retreat and conference center located on Oak Island at the mouth of the Cape Fear River, is currently accepting applications to be considered for our Environmental Stewardship Program Internship. The 6-month to 1 year internship involves 1) providing outdoor environmental education and team-building programs to school groups, as well as adults, and 2) maintaining the saltwater aquaria and exhibits. Applicants should be energetic, flexible, and have a passion for learning and teaching about the environment. The internship requires working on/near the water in a variety of weather conditions, on the beach, marsh, floating docks, and fishing pier. Lifeguard certification preferred but not required. START DATE: January/February 2017 (date flexible)

 

TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC: Upcoming or recent college graduates (graduation on or before December 2016) interested in pursuing a career in outdoor education; strong background in science and/or education required.

 

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week +/-, occasional evening and weekend hours.

 

COMPENSATION: $250/week plus room and board (housing, utilities, internet, and most meals). Opportunities to attend professional development workshops.

 

LOCATION: Fort Caswell Coastal Retreat & Conference Center, Oak Island, North Carolina
