Description:

Key Responsibilities ? Engage 4th and 7th grade students in rigorous science education. ? Prepare materials for hands-on science lessons. ? Assist with instruction of lessons as needed. ? Help facilitate field trips to the Living Lab. ? Assist with classroom management and engagement of the students. Volunteer Impact ? Help students to believe and achieve in science. ? Expose underserved youth to innovative science and conservation curriculum. ? Spark student interest in science careers.


Requirements:

Commitment ? One 5-7 hour shift per week from January 22nd to March 22nd, 2019. o Time for the shift varies between 7am-4pm. ? Two required orientations for all Science Education Mentors. o January 14th from 3-5:30pm and February 6th from 4-6:30pm. ? Optional but encouraged end of unit Volunteer Appreciation Event! Requirements ? Interest in the science, conservation, or education fields. ? Commitment to acting as a role model for underserved youth. Preferred Qualifications ? Interest in gaining education experience. ? Ability to communicate in Spanish.
