Majoring in Biology? Chemistry? Marine Biology? Environmental Science? Engineering? Physics? Mathematics? Computer Science? Data and Information Sciences? Participate in marine science research remotely and on-site! Take advantage of the opportunity to gain research experience while exploring interdisciplinary fields of study, including: Marine Tools and Technology, Fisheries Science, Shifting Ecosystems, Marine Mammals and Birds, Marine and Estuarine Ecology, Sustainable Aquaculture, and more.??This summer, Oregon State University's Hatfield Marine Science Center is inviting students from all over the U.S. the opportunity to work ONSITE on the coast and/or HYBRID/REMOTE from home with faculty mentors on research projects that advance knowledge and understanding of marine, coastal and estuarine environments. The Research Experience for Undergraduates program runs from June 13 - August 20, 2022 at the OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC) and Port Orford Field Station (POFS) both on the Oregon coast.? ?HMSC in Newport is one of the largest marine labs in the Pacific Northwest, a thriving research community where students interact with university faculty and government agency scientists and have easy access to the "living laboratory" of Oregon's coastal estuaries and the ocean. On the southern Oregon coast, the POFS is a hub that supports student learning, scientific research, community priorities, and economic opportunities, and fosters coastal stewardship and sustainability by supporting access to the region's unique marine and terrestrial ecosystem. Students from underrepresented groups and institutions with limited research opportunities (like Community Colleges) are especially encouraged to apply. DEADLINE: EXTENDED 2/28 until positions are filled.


Requirements:

DEADLINE: EXTENDED 2/28 until positions are filled. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Seeking currently enrolled Community College undergraduates to apply. Letters of recommendation and official transcripts NOT required. Students from underrepresented groups, community colleges and institutions with limited research opportunities are strongly encouraged to apply. Currently enrolled undergraduates who are not graduating seniors may apply. Eligibility limited to U.S. citizens and permanent residents.  REU interns receive a stipend ($600/week), on-site or off-site housing support, and round-trip transportation to research center and sites.  Learn more and apply online at: www.hmsc.oregonstate.edu/reu
